The situation & objectives
A local production factory wanted to improve consistency and efficiency in dealing with performance issues and conflict on the factory floor, and a need was identified to develop the management skills of team leaders. The main objective was to give them the confidence and capability to effectively execute their roles with a pro-active and consistent approach and therefore reducing the need to escalate issues to HR.
The production team leaders were key to the smooth operation of the factory but also worked various shift patterns. Therefore, an important part of the programme was to make sure that training was short and impactful, without disrupting production.
The objectives of the training were to ensure team leaders-
After discussions with the client, we designed & delivered a series of practical interactive half day workshops at regular intervals over a 3 month period. Each workshop focused on a particular topic with the sequencing designed to progressively build capability. Exercises were based on real, relevant scenarios.
To accommodate shifts, there were three groups at different times to provide maximum flexibility and minimal time away from work. Participants were supplied with small A6 tip cards in a handy wallet to refer to back in the workplace.
